Fried Oyster Tacos

Fried Oyster Tacos

Fried Oyster Tacos. New year new tacos. These fried oyster tacos are super unique and definitely delicious. They’re breaded in a spicy breadcrumb mixture and paired with cole slaw, lime crema, and guac….and a marg of course. Because it’s Friday and we need cocktails ya know ?!

I feel like we always start the new year off with some kind of taco. And since we missed the first taco Tuesday of the year…why not start a taco Friday trend?! And why not start the trend with a brand new kind of taco?!

Tonight we are celebrating the weekend with fried oyster tacos. A crunchy on the inside soft shell taco. Filled with Cole slaw and drizzled with Lime Crema. It’s actually a pretty simple taco, but it’s so different and so good. And of course don’t forget to pair it with some guac, chips, and a marg…the margs are essentially.

I was actually so excited to be having margs for the first time since basically the summer. They are pretty much my spring/summer drink, so it’s always a treat to have them every once in a while in the winter.

We are also supposed to do a tequila night one weekend soon with my uncles family. So stay tuned for some more Friday taco nights this year ;))) !!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound oysters; shucked

  • 2 eggs; beaten

  • 1 - 2 tablespoons hot sauce

  • 1 1/2 cups panko

  • canola oil for frying

  • 1 head iceberg lettuce; shredded

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise

  • 1 - 2 tablespoons whole milk

  • salt and pepper

  • 1/2 teaspoon celery seed

  • 6 - 8 corn tortillas; charred

For the Lime Crema

  • 1 cup sour cream

  • juice of 1 lime

  • salt and pepper

Directions

  1. Mix the hot sauce with the eggs. Place the Panko in a shallow bowl. Dredge each oyster through the egg mixture then through the Panko.

  2. In a large skillet, heat the canola oil until hot. Fry the oysters on each side until golden.

  3. Meanwhile make the Cole slaw. In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise and milk. Add the lettuce to a large bowl and stir in the mayonnaise mixture. Season with salt, pepper, and celery seed.

  4. Make the Lime Crema. In a small bowl, add the sour cream, lime juice, salt, and pepper.

  5. Assemble the tacos. Layer each tortilla with Cole slaw and fried oysters. Drizzle with Lime Crema and serve.
